Mitsubishi WD-82840 82-Inch 1080p Projection TV Reviews
19 of 19 people found the following review helpful Worth waiting for, November 16, 2011 This review is from: Mitsubishi WD-82840 82-Inch 1080p Projection TV (Electronics) To start off I want you to know that when I first seen the WD82838 model back in March of this year i was Hooked and wanted to get one right away but I had to run it by My better half to get her onboard first. I constantly looked at product reviews and youtube'd testimonials about the 82838 model, i soon realized that to watch 3D content i had to get the 3d starter pack which was an additional $250.00.So i decided to wailt until Black Friday to snag mine from Amazon soon as Midnight hit. Fortunately around September of this year while scrolling through Mitsubishi's TV website i happen to stumble upon the WD 82840 model and the (92840 which is ridiculously BIG!!!)and quickly compared both the 838 and 840 model's. I was extremely excited to read that the 840 model had the built in 3D emitter so I didn't have to get the 3d Starter Pack (YEAH BABY!!!), all i had to get was the XPAND 103 3D glasses which was a huge sigh of relief for my wallet. after locking my sights on the 840 model I... 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!, January 8, 2012 By Johnny Apollo (USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Mitsubishi WD-82840 82-Inch 1080p Projection TV (Electronics) A great TV at a great price. We paid $2399.00, from Paul's TV, here on Amazon. We ordered it just before Christmas and it arrived about 7 days later, which we thought was impressive, given the holiday - California(?) to Ohio in a week! It was an easy set up and its light weight too. My wife and I easily, albeit nervously..., lifted it onto the TV "stand". We bought (2) blk/ brwn Besta Jarga($99 ea.)TV stands from Ikea to put the TV on - both side by side w/o the included castors. This unit works well and was recommended by a TV owner on another Amazon review. While it is not glossy, we think the color is a-okay, and we're generally picky types... I like it better(looks & feature wise) than the Tech Craft stand that Mitsubishi is pushing, plus the price is good. I'm sure there is something nicer out there if you look...FYI, the Mit TV built in/on 'stand' is for stabilizing only.
We have not done any sort of fancy or complicated set up or calibration yet. I'll update, when we... Read more
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Size is all that matters!, April 2, 2012 This review is from: Mitsubishi WD-82840 82-Inch 1080p Projection TV (Electronics) I was using a 55 inch 3D Sony Bravia tv, but when I moved to my new apartment it just seemed to small; so I wanted something that would fit better with my new place and the Mitsubishi WD-82840 82-Inch 1080p Projection TV did just that. I don't think i'll ever feel the tv is ever too small again. However, size is the only thing that saved this tv from disappointment. While the picture is fine; it's nothing great, and there is no real difference with the 6 color processor. The smart TV is nothing compare to other internet tv. The lack of built in wifi, and the apps are all pointless. I went into the feature once and will never again. No Netflix, or Hulu, or anything really worth viewing. The 3D was also a letdown. While it does not have the ghost image that my Bravia had it can't handle action moments in movies and gives to a lot of tearing. I did not however see the tearing when viewing 2d versions, but the point behind the 840 is really the built in 3d. While I continue to use the... Read more
